The song reached the top spot at 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone listed the hit as among the Top Songs of 2015. The same year, she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which peaked on the Billboard charts. This includes those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. According to an interview Cara did with Rap Up, this particular track had lots of significance for a lot people who listened to her personal story of finding acceptance and appreciation for your self. Cara is famous for including songs about mental health, compassion and self-love in her songs. Her music is an expression of her own personal struggles in dealing with anxiety and depression. According to a Reuters interview, her album has been described as a semi-tumultuous and half-perfected. Her growth was aided by therapy and she encourages others to seek assistance if needed. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. When she was just 10 years old her parents gave her a guitar which became the starting point of her passion for music. Three years later at 13 years old, she began performing her favourite songs through YouTube an important media platform in order to demonstrate to the world that she possessed the talent skills and courage to become a singer. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the chance to write and record her own tracks.
